What do strawberries and a mailbox teach us about early Japanese-Canadian history?

Artist Kellen Hatanaka is drawing on the stories of early Japanese Canadians to create new sculptures for two parks in Surrey, B.C. It’s a very personal project for the multidisciplinary artist from Stratford, Ont., whose own grandparents were sent to internment camps.
